Fitness Myths that Never Die

Some fitness myths never die. One is that you can flatten your belly by doing sit-ups. The fact is that your genetics distribute your fat, not your personal trainer. Burn fat by eating fewer calories. Your belly will flatten whether you do sit-ups or not.beer belly

Another eternal myth: my muscles will turn to fat if I stop exercising. Muscle is muscle; fat is fat. One does not transform into the other. If you stop exercising you will lose muscle. Eat too much and you will gain fat.

Another: too much beer will cause a beer belly. Well, partially true. To many calories cause a big belly. Beer has a lot of calories; therefore drinking beer can contribute to a gut. But so will the potato chips, tacos, cheetoes and wings.

Finally, from the nutrition department, we can throw out the old prohibition against refrigerating bananas. Yes, putting the banana in the frig will turn the skin an unappetizing color, but it will preserve the fruit under the skin for a longer time.
