Want a Longer Life? Spend Some Time Exercising

Lengthening those telemeres

New research suggests that exercise lengthens lives. Seems that people who exercise have longer telemeres. Telemeres are microscopic structures on the ends of chromosomes that shorten each time the cell divides. The telemere shortens and shortens each time the cell divides. Eventually, the telemere disappears and the cell dies. Over time, telemeres of all the cells shorten and all the cells die...us along with them.

Exercisers of various intensity levels had longer telemeres and by extension, longer life potentials.

I exercise because it makes me feel better. Wonder if it's because I have longer telemeres?
